📖 I read the Cat + Mouse duet at the beginning of 2023 and loved it! When I found out we were getting Molly’s story I was thrilled! Do I wish this was a full length novel? Yes… but I always want more words from HD Carlton. I’ve always been a little hesitant with novellas because so much has to be packed into so few pages — I tend to love a long book lol. And let me say this is one of my favorite, if not my favorite, novella I’ve read. Molly’s early life is absolutely heartbreaking. HD had a firm grip on my emotions as she beautifully delivered Molly’s story of pain, grief, perseverance, and strength. Cage, our MMC, battled his own demons in life before developing a skill set and using it in a way to help others, like Molly, find peace. His kindness and compassion combined with his absolute and instant obsession with Molly and possessive tendencies were quite the panty melting combo.
And y’all the epilogues were everything!the first one had me crying like a baby and the second was the treat we all wanted! Prepare yourself for wonderfully executed time jumps, hot AF scenes, interesting use of pigs, and very limited overlap with the C + M world. Oh, and check the content/trigger warnings if you need to!

🎧 I wanted to dive in and read this the moment it released on ebook, but ultimately decided to wait for audio since that’s my preference and I’m glad I waited because it was fantastic! Michelle Sparks is absolutely one of my favorite female narrators and she consistently slays in HD Carlton books — this was no exception! She brought Molly to life showcasing her incredible talent to deliver a wide range of emotions that I feel right to my bones.
I think this was the first time I’ve listened to Sebastian York perform dark romance and he was excellent as Cage! He was harsh and authoritative in some moments and tender and warm in others, the expression of both, and everything in between, keeping me fully immersed in the story.
I highly recommend giving this duet audio a listen!
