I kinda still wish they went back to Scotland 😒. It’s cool and all that we follow the characters through major events in history but it doesn’t seem the same anymore from the first two books which I really liked.

But that being said, this volume is very much about family and new beginnings at least that’s what I got out of it. We follow Brianna and Roger as well throughout the novel alongside Clair of course. I found Brianna journey more interesting then Roger’s not gonna lie. She gets to meet her extended family The Fraser clan which I really wish they did a better job at in the tv show.

However… there are so much things in the last half of the book that happened did not have to be so long!!! The outlander books are so unnecessary long that it tends to put me off of reading them as to how big the novels are. The first 3 books I was fine with but this book so hard for me to get through at times.
I have watched the show before reading the book and… I somewhat prefer season 4 because I understand what’s going on. I was confused at one point reading that I might have missed something major that happens but it ends up being explained in later chapters.

All in all… it’s going to take me a while to pick up and read The Firey Cross (book 5) I mean that is 1,400 pages long.
