The Wake-Up Call by Beth O'Leary
2.0
There were elements of The Wake Up Call that I enjoyed. I thought the chemistry was excellent, properly tense and palpable. Lucas also made me laugh out loud a couple of times. His sense of humour was dry.
I didn't take to Izzy at all. She was like every 'sunshine' cliché. Quirky because she has hair streaks and kooky because she's chaotic and messy. I found her rude and cruel many times. She was like a teenager who had never grown up emotionally.
The premise was okay, but the rings were such a small part of the book. A few times, I even forgot about the whole ring plot. Mostly, it was just Izzy and Lucas snapping at each other with no real point.
I thought it was okay, but it didn't shine for me.
