Look, I just. 

 

I wanted to like this. It has a plus size fmc with a little flavor of scaredy cat (unusual to this genre), a sasspot matron type, it has the “becoming besties with his bestie” trope and women helping women but. 

 

Don’t get me wrong, the writing was good and so were the characters. The story was just not it. I can get on board with instalust and/or instalove, but there was zero tension between these two. They barely interacted. 

 

And the spice was just absolutely disappointing. Glossed over and anticlimactic. 

 

One star for pretty aliens, one for good writing, and one for cool characters, but that’s all I’ve got in me for this one.
