i wasn't very invested in scott and kip's story. it felt rushed in a way that seemed unrealistic. almost love at first sight. there were many instances where the dialogue was awkward and unnatural. i read heated rivalry and the long game before this one, and it was hard not to compare scott and kip to shane and ilya. shane and ilya's relationship felt much more dimensionalized and grounded in reality than the one between these two. shane and ilya felt so real to me that after them, this book was mostly disappointing.

also, kip really irritated me with his stubbornness about money. if i had a wildly rich boyfriend, i'd let him spend whatever he wanted on me. don't be ungrateful. and he was so selfish and not at all understanding of scott's situation, which pissed me off as well. ALSO, the smut was nowhere near heated rivalry/the long game's level.
