The Winter Spirit by Indra Vaughn
4.0
A light, sweet story of a man who owns a B&B, haunted by the ghost of a previous resident from a hundred years before. Nate enjoys his time as a hotelier, and although he's a bit lonely, the presence of the resident ghost is almost like having real company. Gabriel is stuck in his ghost form, and makes the best of it by a bit of mischief, often in aid of a try at matchmaking. Keeping Nate company is one of his favorite things.
Then an old flame of Nate's arrives at the B&B, right as things are getting more interesting for Gabriel. As Nate tries to figure out whether he's interested in getting back together with Owen, Gabriel tries to figure out how the end of his hundred-year curse is going to turn out.
The biggest magical questions get a bit of a handwave at the end here, not really explaining how it works out. That makes it a more satisfying story if you're reading for the relationship and less if you're caught up in the plot details. But as usual I enjoyed this author's characters, and all the touches of humor. I was quite willing to ride the story to the end, and only a little frustrated to not be able to put all the pieces together in the resolution of the HEA. This is a warm, and sometimes funny holiday story.
