Friend Request by Laura Marshall
3.0
Facebook excels at finding people for you to connect with - from its never-ending suggestions of people “you may know” to its instant notifications of friend requests. It just takes one little push of a button. Do you accept…decline? Especially if it’s someone you haven’t even glimpsed in 25 years….because they’re dead?!
A friend request from beyond the grave sets into a motion this mystery of past secrets, misdeeds, and mistrust. One final class party all those years ago is when Maria went missing, presumed to have drunkenly fallen off the nearby cliffs…but things were and are never what they seemed. Did Maria really perish, or did she go into hiding, plotting decades’ worth of revenge against her teenage tormentors? The only way to really know for sure is to accept her friend request…
I liked this story; it was a quick, easy read of Lifetime movie guilty pleasure. I thought some of the details leading to the conclusion suddenly sprang out of nowhere; I would have enjoyed a bit more breadcrumbs to follow. But, this one kept me busy during the downtimes of my kids’ baseball games and served me well for light reading!
