Funland by Richard Laymon

4.5

The feelings I have for this book...
It was good, bad, confusing, upsetting, laughable, and I'm so happy I picked it up.

Pros: The last page, the arthropod, the "trolls" (how Richard made them honestly scary), the blood pact. Over-the-top vibes but also creepy. The gore.

Even after a week, I was still just as invested as the first day!

Cons: Jeremy - weak bitch. There's no audiobook which makes the readability more difficult (for me.) How "trolls"(who they are) are looked at as dangerous and different and not in a good way at all. How the book is named Funland, nothing about this book is fun except the over-the-top scenes and I mean OVER THE TOP. The synopsis "fighting back" is an understatement and the abandoned Funhouse isn't until... 83% so take that as you will. Also, it's from 3 points of view and as someone who likes it when books read smoothly, it's jarring because of all the characters you need to take a step back and be like okay what is the scene of these characters? Lastly(I think), when things happen the story just keeps moving along.. like plot holes. Also, the book should've been named Oddities or something like that. no reason.

After all is said and done. I will be purchasing a copy if I can find one and would love to see an audiobook for this.
