Whew… there is so much to unpack with this one but I can’t find the words. I could not put this down at all. This was a gut-wrenching read.
My heart broke so much for Jade that I cried when she cried. When I realised I was reaching the end of the novel, I didn’t want to let go of Jade. I wanted to stay with her forever.
Jade, or should I say Ceyda, is a character I will remember for a long time.
Ela Lee did an outstanding job writing about being a woman, a person of colour and also a survivor at that. And to realise that this is a debut? I am definitely seated for her future works.
