Distress Signals by Catherine Ryan Howard
2.0
A writer furiously tries to track down his missing girlfriend…even as it takes him across country lines and aboard a cruise ship…
Distress Signals by Catherine Ryan Howard was a debut thriller.
The plot follows a writer who finds his girlfriend missing and breadcrumbs linking her disappearance to a cruise ship he didn’t know she was travelling aboard…
As the mystery unfolds and he starts to question his very relationship and mental state, he finds himself in international waters with more questions than answers…while trying to retrace his girlfriend’s footsteps…
There are also two small subplots following other characters, but those can largely be ignored.
Sadly, the “cruise ship thriller” only covers about a quarter of the book and it never takes advantage of the vast exotic setting that a ship at sea can provide.
I was fairly disappointed both by the mystery and the final resolution…
