The White City by Karolina Ramqvist

5.0

Karolina Ramqvist envelops the reader in Karin's life -- a new mother whose perfect life has abruptly been turned upside down. Karin knew that John was a high-flying criminal and she knew that one day he'd no longer be in her life. But he had promised to set her up for life and she believed him.

Now he's gone and the tax authorities are repossessing Karin's $15 million house and car. And she's alone with her newborn daughter, Dream, in the big house that's slowly running out of food and filling up with trash. Outside, white snow piles up and everyone who had once been her friend is now turning their back on her.

This novel is utterly unputdownable. You can't help but read on, wondering how Karin is going to turn this around and figure out a way for her and her daughter to survive. Gritty and real.

Thank you, Netgalley, for the e-review copy of this book.
