Anne of Green Gables by L.M. Montgomery

5.0

I did read this book many years ago and it did not take for me. This time around I understood why it is an enduring classic. It is full of rich characters, including the flawed but mesmerizing Anne and PEI itself, and the lifestyle of the time is encapsulated in warm amber. It is genuinely funny at many points, and at the end adult and heartbreaking. Now I am set on reading the whole series and finding one of the good miniseries adaptations.
