- Rin's character was incredibly frustrating during the first part of the book when she was struggling with her opium addiction. Kuang's portrial of Rin' addiction was well done
- Felt that Rin's character developed well, but she was still a frustrating character throughout the book
- Confused by Nezha's character - felt like I didn't know him at all
- Liked the plot a lot,esp with the Hespetarian white savior arc that is to be continued, because it is eminent of real life
- pacing was incredibly slow to begin with but thankfully it picked up
- love Rin and Kitay's friendship
