this is a fun little book, and not a bad crack at hard fantasy for the Dresden Files guy. unfortunately, here are two things that ruin it for me:
1) he wrote this based on a bet that he received on a forum that he could not successfully combine "Pokemon" and "Roman legions" together in one book. this brings a lot of the decisions made in here into clarity, and not in a way that i really enjoy.
2) (CW: sexual assault)
unfortunately, these reservations kind of sink the book for me, and i would not recommend it.

it features the most doggedly persistent attempted rapist i've ever seen in a book. i mean, this guy just won't go away. he's like the Michael Myers of raping. i hate itunfortunately, these reservations kind of sink the book for me, and i would not recommend it.
Graphic: Rape
