This book is a short standalone novel. It was lacking in the spice department but was overall decent. I loved it as it was a different take on some things than the usual Meghan March stories.
In this book, we see a couple that had their HEA and are struggling two years later. There’s grief in this book and lots of secrets. But they work through those while on an anniversary trip together.
We find out he’s a merc, which I feel is going to tie into her other books since we see a familiar name. Dane loves Cat and is fighting for this marriage but is grieving what happened in his line of work and feels he is responsible for so much of what went wrong in that work.
Cat has burried herself in her work after losing so much in such a short amount of time. She starts realizing she needs to fight for her marriage before it’s too late.
We get a few twists and turns that will leave you hanging on the edge of your seat. However, I felt this should’ve been a longer book or at least a duet. There’s so much that was skimmed over. But not bad for a change of pace for the author.
