The Wicked Aftermath by Melissa Foster

5.0

Melissa Foster is known for her heart-touching novels. I am always prepared to bring out the crying pillow when I read one of her books. However, she has gone over and beyond with the feels in The Wicked Aftermath. OHMIGOODNESS, this book broke my heart and put it back together again. I have never ever read so many teeny tiny phrases that broke my heart--small heart vignettes filled this novel.

Tank Wicked had suffered loss, and Tank feels things deeply. However, he's not a big talker or flirt; he's Tank, the quiet one. Leah has grown up fast, but she loves her life of caring for and raising her brother's two girls and living with her beloved brother. Tank is attracted to Leah, but she keeps herself removed from attachments while she's working for the Wickeds at their restaurant/bar.

One night changes everything for Tank and Leah. Heartbreaking tragedy strikes Leah, and the two small girls and their lives become intertwined with the Wickeds. The Wickeds once again prove the kind of people and family they are by loving Leah and the girls as they grieve. And in the midst of all this, Leah and Tank fall for each other. Honestly, y'all, this story had so many elements that just took the story to the next level of beauty. If you didn't adore the Wickeds before, you surely will now. Melissa, someday there will have to be a book involving those two little girls when they are grown. I'm still marinating in the goodness, although bittersweet goodness, that is The Wicked Aftermath.
