This was overall a good book. However, it does not rank higher for me for several reasons. Certain portions of the book were impactful, with beautiful writing, but it was more often that there was not enough action to keep me interested in reading. This book's topic is very profound, by nature, so I feel that the larger theme of the ways war and life ravage us is solidified, but there was something off about the character stories and the way they intertwined that's hard to put a finger on, but that prevented this book from being a 4 or 5 star. It was good, it was moderately impactful, but I don't think I would recommend this to anyone unless they were super in to historical fiction, mainly because it's a slower read.
Graphic: War
Moderate: Child death and Death
Minor: Sexual assault
It's about the holocaust, so that should give an idea of some of the content warnings.
