I did not enjoy reading this book. I found the characters to be irritating as they were so clearly written by an adult that does not know teenagers in contemporary times. The plot was actually pretty interesting, but the writing had me cringing multiple times a page. Although I do not know whether the author intended this, I felt that a “pro-life” stance was taken (or in more accurate terms “anti-abortion”), and I did not appreciate it. I almost quit the book multiple times and the only reason I continued reading was because this was for a book club I’m in (we all collectively do not like the book). Another issue is had was that everything was too fast paced.
On one page, Andy/Walter is mad at his mom for wanting to get rid of Emma’s stuff, and on the next, he is drooling over Shelbi.
My final note is that I like the ending but
I just wished that the epilogue never happened because I enjoyed the note of Shelbi reading the letter, and them not being together. They were so bad for each other and their mental health. Also, even though it is explained, I still found the whole bit with chaos theory random and irrelevant to the book, let alone the title.
In summary, don’t read this book.
