The Space Between Worlds by Micaiah Johnson

5.0

This was so good. Alternate universe travel from a gritty future earth full of inequality. It deals with power, privilege, home…and it really kept me guessing. There was reveal after reveal that I didn’t see coming, but which made complete sense. Our narrator Cara was complicated and engaging - kind of broken, rough around the edges, but with a clear moral center when push came to shove. The author showed us so much about the world(s) and Cara through her memories and analysis of the differences between the worlds. So well done - I can’t wait to read more by Johnson. I listened to the audiobook, and the narrator was superb - I thought she did very well with Cara’s nuance and complicated nature.
