I understand this to be a classic, and I get it. But it somehow just didn't quite captivate me in the way that I felt it 'should'... Too many characters? Too many unlikeable characters? I don't know.

But having said all that, there was some charm to it, and I was barracking for Lenuccia and wanted her to succeed. I'm glad I read it.
