This took a WHILE to grow on me but once I found my stride I was IN IT. idk if it took me so long because of my mood or the story itself but it’s quite slow getting into it and I didn’t really catch until Po and Katsa really started developing a friendship. 
Their relationship and their dynamic is what really carries the book for me. They are a dream team and what really brings the magic for me. 
I did end up liking the writing style and slow pace once I got used to it and I definitely plan on continuing with the books
