Dirty Rich Obsession by Lisa Renee Jones

5.0

Literally every single character so far in the Dirty Rich series has daddy issues. Every character has a dad who is an asshole of ginormous proportions. So many similarities in the books. The men are assholes until they start using nicknames (sweetheart for the first two books, baby for this one) which always manages to melt the women; character traits of all three women are so similar that they could’ve been same person; the incessant use of ‘more later’ to end all phone calls (how does everyone use the exact same phrase to end conversations?); the men hanging up phone calls as power plays. I could go on, but the three books don’t have quirks of individuality. They are too similar when it comes to the small details and idiosyncrasies of the characters. Was the author lazy or just set in her ways?

Coming to this book, it was LOONNNGGG. And too many secrets and twists and turns and a lot of them felt very unnecessary but their relationship developed beautifully. Reid’s character arc was phenomenal, so was Carrie’s emotional growth. I’d give it 4.5 or 4.75 stars, just shy of 5 plainly because this book was too angsty for too long and I don’t think it needed to be.
