This Is Where It Ends by Marieke Nijkamp

challenging dark tense fast-paced
  • Plot- or character-driven? A mix
  • Strong character development? It's complicated
  • Loveable characters? Yes
  • Diverse cast of characters? It's complicated
  • Flaws of characters a main focus? It's complicated

I literally ate this book up. I started it and couldn't put it down. It was a page-turner. I just wanted to be sure anyone would have died in the next chapter... And then, I would read it completely... Then, to make sure I won't be sad at the next chapter, I would read the first lines... Oops, the chapter is finished... Vicious circle.
It was really interesting to see the story from different point of view. However, sometimes, I would find it long, and the characters had questionable way of thinking? I mean, sometimes, what they were thinking wasn't really matching with their situation, here, a school shooting.
Also, the character development was good, but not extraordinary. Some practically did not change even if they were in a school shooting... I mean, it is pretty traumatizing
especially since they are all intimately related to the shooter
