Oathbringer by Brandon Sanderson

4.0

8/10

Weakest Stormlight entry as of it yet, but even the series' weakest is pretty damn good.

It picks up well from the end of the second book (one of my all time favorites), especially in Kaladin's storyline, but I feel as if it quickly confuddles it into a middle stretch that ultimately made my drop the book for nearly six months.

But, then it comes back strong near the 66% mark and strikes it down for the homerun. Big set-piece, crazy reveals, strong character moments - it has it all! It made me nearly drop all negative feelings about the book by the time the epilogue rolled.

Character wise the book is starting to show some level of repetitiveness with its characters, having been through their mental troubles for 3 books now, but Sanderson does enough to keep it interesting (I liked the almost D.I.D element of Shallan, which fits perfectly). And there are new characters that get a good spotlight. But Dalinar really shot-up my favs list to probs be my second favorite at this point, with Shallan tracing a close third (no one touches my GOAT Kaladin though).

Some really, really cool lore bits were revealed in this book, and the antagonistic forces finally seem to be making their move, so I'm really excited to get to the next one soon! (And hopefully make it a WOR paced read than a WOK or OB one.)
