The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes by Arthur Conan Doyle

4.0

My first foray into true Sherlock fiction, and it was mostly an enjoyable experience. The short stories which really stuck to the investigation and Holmes’ deduction are the best.

Quick hits:
- A nice blend of crime types.
- Plenty of Holmes and Watson who just bounce so well off each other.
- Most short stories are great. There are a couple where there’s no investigation and Holmes’ just deduces in 2 seconds which were a lot less engaging.
- Every story even at ~20 pages felt juicy and not too short or long.
- Timeless writing, meaning even though this was written over 100 years ago, it felt like it could’ve come out as historical fiction yesterday.

Overall, I really enjoyed this and will continue my foray into the official Sherlock stories in the future. Highly recommend!
