Hunted by Darcy Coates

4.0

Something watched her. It was tall and covered in thick black fur, its head tilted to regard her. Eileen's mind froze, refusing to accept what her eyes were telling her.

Another month, another book from the insane backlog that is my TBR list finally read. Hunted can finally rest easy knowing that it is free from this prison sentence. (Jokes aside, why is there only one copy of this book in the library network that I belong to? This feels super underrated to me!)

You got creepy woods, survivalist vibes, close friends, a missing girl, and emotionally detached cops. A little bit of everything for everyone. The way the author dances around what exactly is hunting these kids down is so well done, and the series of reveals was *everything.* I'm not sure what I expected but those expectations were exceeded.

Nearly 5 stars, but several things about the ending weren't my cup of tea. Read this one at night, thank me later.
