Hotshot Doc by R.S. Grey

Don't ask me how I ended up here, I have no idea.

Hotshot Doc is about a woman named Bailey who is a surgical assistant and learns that the doctor she works for is retiring. Dr Russell is a doctor known for being an asshole who has made all his past assistants quit. Without other opinions, Bailey ends up working for Dr Russell and it isn't easy. But Bailey isn't going to let him be awful to her and they end up hitting it off in more ways than one.

I didn't completely hate this book but it was bad, kind of problematic, and pretty dumb. The writing was light and supposedly humorous and where I'm calling it dumb. So much of the humor was cringeworthy and corny. These are adults right? With the way they acted and talked to each other sometimes, it didn't feel like it. A lot of their fighting was so immature and came from miscommunication too.

The romance was kind of yikes from me. They did have some cute moments but it was ick. A major problem Bailey has in the beginning when she doesn't want to fall for him is that he's in control of her career and her life basically. Of course nothing changes but they fall in love? He decides he is going to Costa Rica... and begs her to go. They were only dating for a couple months at that time and Bailey is the guardian of her younger sister.

Bailey stands up for herself and says no but after like 3 pages she suddenly gives in and I was just grossed out by how easily this guy could control her. Of course it's up to her to change her life instead of him staying for her. Of course. He ends up deciding where her life goes from there, of course marrying him and even having children (pregnant in the last couple of chapters lol) and that's just a "blink twice if he's making you do this, Bailey".

That's probably part of my issue too- I liked Bailey but I never liked Mike that much. Dude was just a robot that lived to be rude and tell her what to do. Ugh. Also @ me because I knew this was like a medical drama but oh my god they talked about surgery, medical stuff, and work so much I was BORED OUT OF MY MIND.

My review is already too long for a book that has such a horrible title so I'm moving on.
