Oona Out of Order by Margarita Montimore

4.0

Plot summary: Oona is turning 19 and has some important decisions to make in her life. But at midnight, at new years when she turns 19, life changes completely. This is the story of Oona living her life without a chronological order. She could be 19 year old in the body of a middle aged woman. We follow her confusing but exciting journey as she lives out her life out of order and we make discoveries about her life alongside her. We get to explore her relationships and how they stood the test of time travel.

My thoughts: this is a really cool premise and given how confusing time travel can be, the author has tried their best to make it as simple to follow for the reader as possible. And the writing style is also well executed, with great character building.
I did expect a bit more conclusive ending and would have loved to see how life played out after for Oona but I can respect the author’s sentiment of leaving an open ended conclusion for the reader. There were several unanswered questions and explanations that I would have liked, but given the confusing subject matter I can understand not having all the answers.
I read this as an audiobook and enjoyed it immensely, the narration is well done with correct emotions infused. I would recommend this book if you are looking for a touching fiction with a unique premise, this will be a fun read. I would recommend the audiobook!
