Babel: An Arcane History by R.F. Kuang
dark
informative
slow-paced
- Plot- or character-driven? Plot
- Loveable characters? It's complicated
2.25
An interesting system of magic and relevant, eye-opening thoughts on colonialism and otherness, but these don't carry a story as well as well-rounded/well-thought characters and their interactions. Babel has way too much tell and too little show.
Would be a mid 3 star read but the misuse/lacking use of Ramy has me seething. 2.25 stars.
