Escaping Perfect by Emma Harrison

2.0

This book was okay. It's definitely a good "filler" book if you're looking for something to tide you over while looking for good literature, it wasn't poorly written but is definitely missing some juicy pieces of the plot.
First, The life she had before is glossed over, and could have provided a much more interesting dynamic for Cecilia's (Lia's) character, but the author seems to have only given small tidbits of her past.
Second, Shelby's character should have been explored much more, and could have provided a very interesting subplot but seems to have been dropped, hopefully she is given a lot more detail in the sequel.
Third, the important parts moved too quickly, and most of the novel is just a fun teen romance with flat characters and a quirky small town.
The ending really irked me, almost all of the books climax happened in the last forty pages, and it honestly wasn't quite worth the other two hundred and ninety.
Overall the book wasn't great, but it wasn't terrible either, I'll probably read the sequel (just because I want to see what her mother does to jasper), but it's definitely not a page turner or going to find itself permanently on my bookshelf.
