The Maze Runner by James Dashner

3.0

Listen..I know I come on here, I read my silly little books, and I leave my silly little comments and reviews--but I cannot, in good faith, give this book higher than 3 stars. One star, I will give for nostalgia purposes. One star, I will give for Newt and only Newt. The last star would be for casting Dylan O'Brien in the movie. If you were to hold me at gunpoint and ask me to describe any of these characters' personalities, I would not live to see the sun rise over God's green earth.

I have no idea who greenlit the romance for Thomas and Theresa. I got a C- in chemistry in highschool and I can tell you right here and now that what they have, is not chemistry. Hell, Newt and Thomas had more chemistry and half the time I was rooting for them because at least they, oh idk, iNTERACTED? Also the telepathy thing? Where did that even cOME FROM?

That being said, and as I will continue to say, you can tell this book was written in 2009-and that is a-okay! But if you think, in the good year of 2023, I will give this book higher than 3 stars when the main character is as bland as a toddler's firmly grasped, soggy rice cake cracker, u have the wrong girlie.
