The stories are alright, but they are similar in style to certain Chinese classics. That is, they are rather 'matter of fact' and don't really grip you emotionally. Moreover, Nakajima keeps so close to the source material he is drawing on (those Chinese classics) I sometimes thought I could just as well read the sources. 

I did especially enjoy Li Ling. I felt the characters had more depth than in the other stories.
