Quotes: “Not then. After that. At the theater and today and…” Maggie faltered. “If I’m a stranger to you, then…why did you kiss me?” “If you must ask me that, I can only assume that you’ve vastly underrated your charms.” St. Clare looked down at her with studied nonchalance.

“Perhaps he should have warned his grandfather that Maggie had been raised by the biggest bully in the West Country? Squire Honeywell’s temper had all but inoculated his daughter. When it came to overbearing men, she was accustomed to giving as good as she got.”

Another great read by Mimi Matthews. I loved Maggie’s spunk and St. Clare’s absolute love for her come what may in all of the mystery.  He just couldn’t stay away from her and the romance was such a sweet story. Lots of adventure and obnoxious villains made for a great book.
