A Hunger Like No Other by Kresley Cole
- Strong character development? No
- Loveable characters? No
I might come back and eventually rate this, but I’m really torn because I never would’ve picked this up if not for book club. I would definitely rate it very low, but I also wouldn’t have ever picked it up in the first place.
This book is VERY much a product of its time and written with an “older” version of consent that doesn’t really actually mean consent. There is technically a plot, but only so the continuous smut scenes could be sold on bookstore shelves. The beginning scenes are VERY non consensual, and I don’t really feel like these are challenged enough.Towards the end, the main character “forgives” the male main character for constantly assaulting her towards the end of the book because she understands his strong lust. WILD way to avoid SA allegations for the book. Overall, not something I would suggest or even read myself if I had to choose again.
