Crying in H Mart by Michelle Zauner

5.0

My eyes swelled up after reading this book, I was sitting in my drawing room with teary eyes and a numb face to which my mom asked "What happened?" and I told her "this memoir happened" I narrated to her the entire memoir in 15 minutes and told her "isn't it weird time heals everything" She stared at me for a while and replied "Time doesn't heal anything it just teaches you how to live with that pain"

When John Green wrote "Pain demands to be felt" and this book proved it, Losing a parent could be so difficult, we often fight with them, we hate the boundaries they put on us, we hate to take their advice, we often look for colleges that are far away from home just so we can live life on our own terms, don't we? Michelle, the protagonist of this book was just like us, hated her mother while she was growing up, hated being the only half Korean and half American kid out in school, was teased, I mean who liked to be bullied right? Just because they look a certain way.

If I could describe this book in two words, it was "Devastating Beautiful" This book is all bout how she copes up after her mother died, mostly by delving in memories and finding comfort in food (Korean Food) What drew me towards this book was its title, crying in H mart as well as it's writing style. Sometimes, I have to keep this book down just to soak up on emotions and words written in it.

Highly Recommended
