Belle und das Biest im verlorenen Paradies, Band 1 by Kaori Yuki

4.0

I like fairy tale retellings and even if Beauty and the Beast isn't exactly my favorite option (there's a fair bit of Red Riding Hood in there as well though, I feel, and that one IS my favorite) I was intrigued. Also it's Kaori Yuki. Of course I was gonna give it a shot.
The horror aspect is on point as always, as is the character design. The story is... not ground-breaking. But Alice in Murderland started off with a fairly simple idea as well and then went batshit insane along the way (in a good way), so I still have a lot of hope.

Belle isn't unlikeable and I think Yuki portrayed her being a victim of abuse quite well. Cyril is kind of an ass, but I mean... that's the point. So good job. His design is a tiny bit weird? It looks like he's wearing a sky mask that someone glued teeth onto. Love his horns, though. Sorry, ears, I mean.
