I wish I could say human nature has progressed even a little since Ursula Le Guin wrote this brilliant and deeply unsettling novella in the early '70's, but reading this reminded me all too much of Earth in 2023. Specifically human behavior. This work of speculative fiction isn't so speculative, at least not where the Terrans are concerned. Too many Davidson's walk among us. I fear this will also be true should we become a space faring species.
