The Justice of Kings by Richard Swan

5.0

I really loved this book. I do see how some consider the beginning a little slow, but I am a huge nerd and I was really intrigued from the start. The magic system is fascinating and kept hidden just enough to cause me to starve for more information. Hopefully, some of the other Justices' abilities are explored in later books. I desperately want to know more about the animal communication powers!

The politics and the detective story were equally engrossing and perfectly catered to my personal tastes. I thoroughly enjoyed the character of Helena and Sir Conrad. Helena's innocence is a perfect foil to Conrad's stern devotion to his duties. Their relationship seemed almost a Batman and Robin allegory--again, huge nerd here!

I will be going straight into Tyranny of Faith!
