This was a buddy read, so we deliberately slowed our pace to make sure everyone could read the daily chapters, but it also felt like the actual pace of the story was very slow, which didn't motivate me to pick it up regularly. The final 20% of the story was the best part by a long shot, with some great fight sequences and a good resolution at the end, but I just wish the rest of the book had been as been as exciting. I'm also not sure what age the main characters were meant to be, but the audiobook narrator made them sound very young, which I found pretty distracting, so I'm not sure I'd recommend the audio for this one.
