Madame Bovary by Gustave Flaubert

4.0

A classic that stands the test of time. Surely Emma Bovary's prolonged death scene is one of the greatest in all of literature. Anna K ends it quickly, but Madame Bovary imagines this hyper romantic death by suicide after her affair goes south, only her death isn't romantic at all. It's agonizing and slow, much like the death of her aspirations. A cautionary tale I tell you!
