The Young and Prodigious T.S. Spivet by Reif Larsen
5.0
What a journey!
A wonderfully different kind of story.
Part journal, part family history but mostly an insight into the glorious mind and thought processes of a young man, all mapped out on the pages of a book.
I love curious and creative story formats and this one is is fantastic. It may frustrate some and take a little longer to read but it reflects our passage through life and all those peculiar manic monologues that make us wander off the path. Rarely do we do anything in a straight line.
To be as present and observant as T.S is a true gift and one of life's simple pleasures. It's all about perception, ways of seeing things. Maybe younger minds and eyes succeed better at this...and I smiled reading 'when does a child become an adult?' P.295, feeling quite pleased at not being a total adult!
There is something creatively fascinating about maps and
Mr.Larson has this story all mapped out very cleverly.
