Highly reflective book. Although there is a lot of fiction on things that could have happened to Tan Yunxian, and the story of the Spinster Aunt and the pregnancy was amazing and reminded me of Apothecary Diaries, it presented a real view of how women, low or high class during the Ming Dynasty and even today, face challenges specific to the female, in regards of education, medical treatment and marriage.
I also wonder if how her marriage evolved through time has any similarities with modern marriages.
See had an incredible amount of research to do for this book and presented everything in a great and complete way. I'm still curious about the case recipes, might look for Lady Tan's book 📚
