Review:
This was my first spicy MM book that I ever read, and so the story holds a special place in my heart. I was a little apprehensive about going into this audiobook, not only because I wasn't sure how I would take the story now after I've read so much more, but also because I haven't had the best luck with audiobooks recently. However, I did not have to be worried at all. I originally gave this book a 4.5 star rating, but the narration of this story was so good and added so much more life to it, that I had to give it 5 stars. Firstly, I loved the British accents; I kind of forgot the story was set in England, but I absolutely loved hearing their voices and the slang, it had a huge grin on my face. Also, I forgot how funny this story was, and the delivery of the lines made the jokes just that much funnier - I lol'd a number of times throughout. I did like both VAs, and I found the one for Olu a great fit given the character's heritage - his voice seemed to fit so perfectly. I did find it a little over the top with his Griff voice sometimes, but he was still a great actor, and I liked hearing his voice. Having said that, Griff's VA was absolutely perfection, 11/10, amazing, show-stopping. I loved his gruff but also gentle, somewhat brutish but also silky voice, and the way he acted both Griff and Olu was just absolute perfection. Like, no notes, I think I liked his acting just as much as Corvin King's in FTF, which I haven't found anyone else yet close to that level at all. I enjoyed any time we got his POV, and I felt like he sop perfectly captured the nature of Griff, who is such a beautiful giant of a character who I have such a soft spot for. It also doesn't help that these two characters are stunning and very much my kind of aesthetic 👌 but I was so pleasantly surprised that I rearranged my whole day so that I could listen to the entirety of this in one day, and I don't regret it one bit. Please please listen to this ASAP!
