Her family wants her to be "normal" and won't accept that she needs accommodations to participate in their family discussions. The school pairs her up with a buddy to help her get around the school, and while she and Jackson become friends, he is dealing with a crisis of his own. I really loved the relationship between Ellie and Jackson. I was so frustrated for her when she was dealing with her family and was happy she found a community of friends to help her navigate her relationship with her parents. This was a great YA read!
