Catch Me If You Can: The True Story of a Real Fake by Frank W. Abagnale

Did not finish book. Stopped at 53%.
The pitfalls of writing an autobiography is that the book will be completely insufferable if the writer is also completely insufferable. Even if you know that most of the events in the book are fabricated, ideally it shouldn’t take away enjoyment from reading it.  However, FBJ is such a deeply unlikable man who thinks he’s the smartest man in room and cannot stop objectifying women for the life of him. Every time someone compliments him for his cleverness or he makes a fool out of a pigeon, you get the sense that this man is trying soothe his ache for attention and validation. He doesn’t have the charm that Leonardo DiCaprio did in the movie so the entire novel falls flat. The most I enjoyed this book was reading excerpts to my beloved across the kitchen table and watching them cringe and laugh about how much this guy sucks.
