I liked this book more than the first, but still found myself rolling my eyes at all the terrible choices Alyce/Namira makes. And if ONE MORE character “double crossed” her I was going to scream. My girl needs to get better at reading people.
This book takes place 100 years after the first (not a spoiler, it happens on chapter one) so the old world is out and you have to learn a TON of new lore. You get whiplash sometimes.
The romance is full of angsty pining, which, if you like that kind of thing, buckle up.
I missed the magic system of book one over this “I just have power” system of book two. Overall enjoyable but not quite my cup of tea.
