Hogfather, by Terry Pratchett

5.0

Oh, simply a pleasure. Combines my favourite Discworld character, Death, with my favourite Discworld mechanic, gods and belief. Throw in Susan, all grown up and more amazing than ever, and that's me sorted.

Two things, to me, encompass the range of this book...
- Death's speech about how humanity needs to believe in the "little lies" like the Hogfather in order to believe the big ones, like "Justice. Mercy. Duty." (pages 380-1 in my edition)
- The fact that Death now has many cats (page 101 in my edition)

Endearing characters, searing social commentary... what's not to love?
