3.5

Review: Heartstopper
✨:  3.5/5
Genre: graphic novel
1️⃣ word: high school
Format: physical— borrowed from my middle school niece with excellent taste
(Shoutout to her for introducing me to the Scythe series too!)

Sweet lil high schooler, is one of the only out gay kids in his school. He falls in love with a cutie pie rugby star…but oh no he’s straight. 🙁

➕: loved the love story, very cutesy cutesy.
Also, my old lady-ness is showing, but it’s just so damn refreshing to read a high school love story where the kid is out and it isn’t that big of a deal to (most of) the other kids. YES, I know he still has to deal with unfair crap because of his sexuality. But it’s so much better (at least in this book, and seems to be in the world as well) than how it was when I was in high school, and gives me hope that the world is going to continue to get kinder ❤️

➖: I don’t think graphic novels are for me fam. I keep forgetting to look at the pictures.. lol. I honestly feel disappointed that this story was graphic novel because I feel like the plot line/characters were so cute, I wanted the details/more depth that a traditional novel could have given them.
