I feel like I should preface this saying that I'm not really into the Young Adult genre. However, I actually really enjoyed the Red Queen. I liked that the main character, Mare, was pretty imperfect, and the spin on supers and non-supers was interesting.
I would recommend this book to people that like Hunger Games, but are interested in a more supernatural feel. I plan to read the next in the series, mostly because of the love story and less because of the action. Cal is by far my favorite character--I think he was the most dynamic and the least predictable/annoying character.
Somethings I didn't like: Mare is super annoying and constantly reflects about how terrible she is. She's not even a bad character! She's just a little whiny for my taste. I felt like some of the inner monologues could have been removed. It was a tad slow at times because of this. I listened to the audiobook and probably would have skipped these had I been reading the story.
