If Found, Return to Hell by Em X. Liu

funny hopeful lighthearted

4.25

This is such a delightful little novella. Interesting world with parallels to ours that made the main thrust of the novel—finding a purpose and a place beyond the drudgery of work—all the more poignant. The ending just felt so light and hopeful that I'm starting my day with an extra bounce to my step.

If I have one criticism, it's that I'm not sure why a second person perspective was chosen to tell the story as opposed to first person, but the prose flowed well and it didn't jar me out of the story so I'm not going to hold the unconventional style against it. I look forward to reading more by this author!
